Business opportunities and challenges in tourism, fisheries, search & rescue and oil

In October 2013 – at the Arctic Circle Conference – the Icelandic Arctic Cooperation Network, Icelandic-Arctic Chamber of Commerce, Arctic Services and the Icelandic Joint Committee on Arctic Affairs held a meeting on co-operations between clusters in the Arctic. That meeting was the first step in the enhanced dialogue between business and academics on the developments in the Arctic and both the opportunities and challenges which might follow those developments.

Next meeting in Akureyri

The goal of the next meeting in Akureyri – which is held in co-operaton with the Greenlandic-Icelandic Chamber of Commerce and Arctic Reykjanes – is to extract concrete information on opportunities and challenges in specific industries, thus deepening the discussion on Iceland’s position within the Arctic in these industries.

Four meetings will be held during the day in Akureyri, one pr. industry – tourism, fisheries, search & rescue and oil – where business and academic representatives share their experience and insight regarding business opportunities and highlight ideas on future co—operation grounds with regards to the Arctic.

All four meetings will have a key-note speaker with an opening address, then two speakers (one business representative and one academic representative) and lastly panel discussions with members whom have different ties to the relevant industry.

The meeting will be held in the conference hall of the University of Akureyri, between 8:30-16:00. Registration fee is ISK 2.500.
