Stefansson Memorial Lecture 2020

The annual Stefansson Memorial Lectures are delivered in commemoration of the explorer and anthropologist Vilhjálmur Stefansson - of his life, work and vision for the Arctic. These lectures are generally held in autumn, around the time of Stefansson's birthday, November 3rd.
The 2020 lecture was delivered by Dr Margaret Willson, the author of Seawomen of Iceland: Survival on the Edge. In partnership with Stefansson Arctic Institute and the Institute of Arctic Studies at Dartmouth College, the Wilson Center’s Polar Institute hosted this keynote lecture which was followed by an expert panel discussion which included Embla Eir Oddsdóttir, the director of the IACN
